Welcome to the 2025-26 Stokesley Blackball Pool season! We’re excited to get underway with six teams competing this year, including a warm welcome to our newest members from Nunthorpe & Marton Recreation Club.

A huge thank you to our returning season sponsor, Jon Walker of My Insurance Broker, for his continued generosity. This season sees the trial of a significant rule change in doubles play, allowing for more strategic discussion between partners.

Summary of AGM Notes 2025-26

Here are the essential updates for the upcoming Stokesley Blackball Pool season:

General Information

  • Sponsor: The league is once again sponsored by Jon Walker of My Insurance Broker.

  • Season Start: The first matches will take place on Tuesday, 30th September 2025.

  • New Team: We welcome Nunthorpe & Marton Recreation Club to the league.

  • Fees: Registration and match fees are unchanged:

    • Team Registration: per team

    • Singles Fee: per player

    • Doubles Fee: per pair

Match Format & Rules

  • Start Time: All matches are to begin promptly at 8:30 p.m.

  • Structure: The format remains 3 doubles games and 6 singles games.

  • Player Requirements: A minimum of 4 players is required. Teams with only 3 players will forfeit 2 of the doubles frames but can still play the remaining doubles and all singles frames.

  • Cancellations: A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel a match.

Key Rule Change: Doubles Play (Trial Basis)

For the 2025-26 season, a new rule for doubles matches will be trialled:

  • Partners may now confer between shots.

  • All discussion must cease as soon as a player touches the table to address their shot. Talking can resume after the shot is complete if the visit continues.

  • Referees may call for faster play or impose a time limit if conversations become excessive.

  • In competitions, doubles partners must be from the same registered team.
