2026 Stokesley Pool League Cup Competitions

League Cup Gets Underway in January

With the festive break upon us, attention now turns to the return of competitive action in the New Year, as the League Cup begins in January. This season’s competition will follow a home and away format, giving every team two matches to stake their claim for a place in the semi-finals.

Competition Format

The League Cup will be played over two legs, with each fixture contested home and away:

  • First leg: Tuesday 13 January
  • Second leg (reverse fixtures): Tuesday 27 January

Each pairing will effectively form a mini-league, with points accumulated across both matches. Once all fixtures have been completed, the top four teams in the overall table will progress to the League Cup semi-finals.

This format rewards consistency across both legs and keeps the competition wide open right through to the return fixtures later in the month.

First Leg Fixtures – 13 January

The opening round of matches on 13 January sees some intriguing encounters:

  • Sports B vs Kirkby A
  • Nunthorpe vs Ayton
  • Kirkby B vs Sports A

These opening fixtures will set the tone for the mini-league standings, with every frame and point potentially crucial when qualification places are decided.

Reverse Fixtures – 27 January

The second leg takes place two weeks later, with all fixtures reversed:

  • Kirkby A vs Sports B
  • Ayton vs Nunthorpe
  • Sports A vs Kirkby B

With points carried over from the first leg, teams will head into these matches knowing exactly what is required to reach the semi-finals, adding extra pressure and drama to the return ties.

Grainge Cup to Follow Later in the Season

The Grainge Cup will be played towards the end of the season and will use the same home and away format as the League Cup. Full details and the draw for the Grainge Cup will be confirmed and shared nearer the time.

Looking Ahead

The League Cup always provides a different challenge to the regular league campaign, with momentum, depth, and nerve all playing a major role over two legs. With semi-final places on the line, January promises plenty of competitive and entertaining pool across the league.

Finally, the league would like to wish all players, teams, and supporters a very Happy Christmas. Enjoy the break, and we look forward to seeing everyone back around the tables in January.
