Week 13 delivered decisive results at both ends of the table, with Kirkby B strengthening their grip on top spot, Nunthorpe Rec staying firmly in the title hunt, and Sports B continuing their strong run of form.
Ayton 2–7 Nunthorpe Rec
DBL: 1–2, SNG: 1–5
Nunthorpe Rec produced one of their most dominant performances of the season at Great Ayton WMC, running out emphatic 7–2 winners and keeping the pressure firmly on the league leaders.
The singles told the story, with Nunthorpe taking five of the six frames through Gary Fields, James Hartley, Jason Rowden, Peter Fields and Mike Bringlow. Ayton’s only singles success came via Peter Stones, who once again showed his class under pressure.
Nunthorpe also controlled the doubles, with wins from James Hartley / Peter Fields and Gary Fields / Tony Czifra, completing a commanding away display.
Kirkby A 3–6 Sports B
DBL: 0–3, SNG: 3–3
Sports B continued their upward momentum with a strong 6–3 away win at the Black Swan Inn, built on a flawless start in the doubles.
Early wins from Stephen Belton / Jimmy Grange, Arfan Asif / Jacob Foster and Shane Pratt gave the visitors a crucial platform, before the singles were shared evenly.
Singles victories for Sports B came through Jimmy Grange, Stephen Belton and Shane Pratt, while Kirkby A responded with points from Tony Smith and Billy McElvany. The early damage, however, proved decisive.
Sports A 2–7 Kirkby B
DBL: 0–3, SNG: 2–4
Kirkby B delivered a statement performance at Stokesley Sports Club, cruising to a 7–2 victory that extends their lead at the top of the table.
Kirkby B quickly took control, winning all three doubles through Jack Butler / Lee Murphy, Brian Dea / Gordon Hay and John Corner / Ian McGreevy.
The singles followed a similar pattern, with wins from Gordon Hay, Brian Dea, John Corner and Jack Butler. Sports A claimed their two points via Matthew Brown and Graham Bird, but the visitors were dominant overall.
Player of the Week – Gordon Hay (Kirkby B)
A composed and confident performance in both singles and doubles as Kirkby B extended their lead at the summit. Hay’s consistency continues to be a major factor in their title charge.
Table talk
Kirkby B lead the way on 66 points, with Nunthorpe Rec close behind on 64. Sports B move up to 60, while Ayton sit on 58. Sports A and Kirkby A both remain on 50, with plenty still to play for as the season heads into its final stretch.
