Week 14 saw Kirkby B tighten their grip at the top of the Winter 2025/26 table, opening up a four-point lead after a dominant home display. Nunthorpe Rec kept pace with a strong win over Sports B, while Sports A produced one of their best performances of the season to see off Kirkby A.
Kirkby B 8–1 Ayton
DBL: 2–1, SNG: 6–0
A statement win at the Black Swan Inn as Kirkby B delivered a ruthless 8–1 victory over Ayton. After edging the doubles 2–1, the home side were relentless in the singles, taking all six frames to shut the door completely.
Lee Murphy, John Corner, Brian Dea and Ian McGreevy all recorded singles wins, with the depth of the squad on full display. Ayton managed a single doubles point, but once the singles got underway Kirkby B were clinical and composed throughout.
The result moves Kirkby B onto 74 points and strengthens their position at the summit.
Nunthorpe Rec 6–3 Sports B
DBL: 3–0, SNG: 3–3
Nunthorpe Rec laid the foundations early at Nunthorpe & Marton Recreation Club, sweeping the doubles 3–0 before sharing the singles.
Wins for Jason Rowden, Gary Fields and Peter Fields in the singles ensured the home side stayed in control, while Sports B battled hard through Jacob Foster, William McIlvanney and Stephen Belton.
At 70 points, Nunthorpe remain firmly in the title hunt and within striking distance of the leaders.
Sports A 6–3 Kirkby A
DBL: 2–1, SNG: 4–2
Sports A put in a disciplined performance at Stokesley Sports Club to claim a valuable 6–3 win over Kirkby A.
Singles victories from Jordan Phillips, Graham Bird, Matthew Brown and Graham Bland proved decisive, while the doubles pairing of Leon Jones and Graham Bland added an important frame to swing the momentum.
Kirkby A responded through Dave Chow and veteran Tony Smith, but Sports A controlled the key moments to see the match out.
Table Talk
Kirkby B lead on 74 points, with Nunthorpe Rec on 70. Sports B sit third on 63, followed by Ayton on 59. Sports A and Kirkby A remain locked on 56 and 53 respectively.
With several rounds still to play, the title race remains alive, but Kirkby B have laid down a serious marker.
