Week 15 delivered more drama at both ends of the table, with tight finishes, big individual performances and the title race continuing to twist as we move deeper into the Winter season.
Ayton 3–6 Sports A
DBL: 1–2, SNG: 2–4
Sports A picked up a valuable away win at Great Ayton WMC, taking control in the singles after a competitive start in the doubles.
Ayton kept things tight early on, but Sports A edged the doubles 2–1 to take momentum into the singles session. From there, Sports A were clinical, taking four of the six frames to seal a solid 6–3 victory.
Key singles wins came through Jordan Phillips, Matthew Brown, Graham Bland and James Rowney's nookers sealing the final frame. Ayton's response via Steve Taylor and Alan Jackson was too late. The extra edge in the doubles proved decisive on the night.
A disciplined performance from Sports A as they continue to build consistency.
Kirkby A 4–5 Nunthorpe Rec
DBL: 1–2, SNG: 3–3
Another narrow win for Nunthorpe Rec as they edged Kirkby A 5–4 in a match that could easily have swung either way.
The singles were shared 3–3, withTony Czifra, James Hartley and Gary Fields delivering crucial points for Nunthorpe. Kirkby A battled throughout, with old guard Tony Smith, Dave Chow and Rachel Muscat all contributing to keep the contest level deep into the night.
In the early doubles, Nunthorpe just had enough to tip the balance, taking two of the three frames to claim the match.
A composed, professional result that keeps Nunthorpe firmly in the title hunt and looking at Kirby B at home next week.
Sports B 4–5 Kirkby B
DBL: 1–2, SNG: 3–3
A huge result at Stokesley Sports Club as Kirkby B ground out a narrow 5–4 win over Sports B in another thriller.
The singles were evenly matched at 3–3, with John Corner potting the black after both players wobbled the black in the jaws of the pocket, Jack Butler getting the win after Jacob Foster potted both black and white and Lee Murphy also delivering a key frame for Kirkby B. Sports B hit back strongly through Arfan Asif's super double to pot the black, Shane Pratt's great clearance and Shane again in his second singles ensuring the match went right down to the wire.
The difference came in the doubles, where Kirkby B took two of the three frames to edge the contest.
Another vital win for Kirkby B as the pressure continues at the top.

Kirkby B remain top on 79 points, with Nunthorpe Rec close behind on 75. Sports B sit on 67, while Sports A and Ayton remain locked on 62. Kirkby A complete the table on 57. With the margins this fine, every frame counts.
